The Research Problem
The fisrt we must decide a problem it is inductive reasoning or deductive reasoning. We have many source how to know the problem. We can know the problem with experience. For example teachers did research in the school. Teachers know every problem because they did research with experience. Then we can also to use research problem with theories. Theory have many way to research a problem we can use all of them. Then related literature. for example researchers have conducted numerous replications of piaget’s famous studies(1999) of the development of moral judgment in children. Then noneducation sources. And we can use qualitative research problem. Qualitative researchers can look to their personal experiences and interest, to theory, to the professional literature, or to current social issues and real-world concerns to find a potential problem. After we did research we can evaluating the problem.
Stating The Research problem
After we have selected and evaluated the problem. The problem varies according to the type of research. We consider quantitative and qualitative research statements separately.
The Problem Statement In Quantitative Research
The problem statement in quantitative research specifies the variables and the population of interest. It is not enough to statement the problem we also use qualitatitve research.
The Problem Statement In Qualitative Research
Qualitative researches also begin with a problem, but they state it much more broadly than in quantitative research. And we also identifying population and variables.
Identifying Population And Variables
A good strategy for shaping a felt problem or a vague notion of what you want to investigate into researchable problem is to think in terms of population and variables the statement of the research shoul identify the population of interest and the variables to be investigated. We can know the reserach problem if we do
Characteristics of Good Research Questions
1.The question is feasible (i.e., it can be investigated without an undue amount of time, energy, or money).
2.The question is clear (i.e., most people would agree as to what the key words in the question mean).
3.The question is significant (i.e., it is worth investigating because it will contribute important knowledge about the human condition).
4.The question is ethical (i.e., it will not involve physical or psychclogical harm or damage to human beings or to the natural or social environment of which they are a part). We will discuss the subject of ethics in detail in chapter four
